Our Youth

Elks believe that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

Hoop Shoot

Through the Hoop Shoot program, the Elks been developing and reinforcing grit for nearly 50 years—long before researchers and experts concluded that grit is so important for our children. Just listen to the parents and contestants in these videos. They’re talking about grit.

Each year, the six Hoop Shoot National Champions will have their names listed alongside their picture in a brand-new digital exhibit in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. Additionally, two of the Frank Hise National Champions are in attendance when the Hall of Fame inductees are honored at the Enshrinement Ceremony.

Field trip to Soldiers Field Memorial

40 third graders from Kasson-Mantorville school visited Solider’s Field Memorial in Rochester, MN. The kids get a questionnaire for a scavenger hunt which helps them learn about the memorial. 1st picture is Elk member, Tommy Carey is helping two students find an answer to their scavenger hunt. 2nd students looking for answers, 3rd and 4th pictures are of the Rochester fire chief, Kerska, helping children understand about some information on the wall. The children also learn about the flag and freedom. The Rochester Elks sponsor many of these visits by children from area grade schools with money from the Elks National Foundation.
